Two years after winning the partner races Pierra Menta été (France) and Transrockies Run (USA), Katie Schide and Germain Grangier have decided to launch their own race event. The ONE&1 - Run to Camp is a 2-day partner adventure April 4-5, 2020 in the Prealps of the French Riviera, between the sea and the mountains, just 25 minutes from the Nice Airport. A multi-day event with a focus on comradery and fun, runners have the chance to experience much more than a conventional running race. Teams will share a special evening between the two stages: camping under the stars, on the perch of an historic French village.
1st Stage – Saturday April 4, 2020 – Vence-Gourdon - 55k - 3500D+
This first stage boasts 55km and 3500m of ascent and leaves from the village of Vence, climbing towards the mythical Baou de St Jeannet, where world-famous climber Patrick Berhault first honed his skills. You’ll ascent through the “voie rouge”, equipped with fixed ropes (via ferrata kit required). The trail continues to wind through the steep limestone cliffs of the Prealps, passing through Cheiron and finally descending to Gourdon. Labeled the most beautiful village in France, the village is balanced on a high, rocky cliff, set against the blue skies of the Côte d'Azur.
Campout – Saturday evening April 4 in Gourdon
The camp will be built in the park bordering Gourdon with incredible views of the Gorges du Loup, the snowy peaks of the Mercantour, and the blue waters of the Mediterranean. Upon arrival, runners will have time to gather their bags, select a tent for the night (already set-up), enjoy some food and drink at the finish line, prepare their bodies for the next day with a physiotherapist on site, hangout zones for self-massage/foam rolling, yoga, and hot showers. After somes beers, dinner will be served with a briefing for Stage 2, video of the day, and an acoustic concert around the campfire. Then we’ll switch out the lights for a night under the stars.
2nd Stage – Sunday April 5 – Gourdon – Tourrettes sur Loup - 30km - 1500D+
The second stage will be shorter and faster with 30km and 1500m+ between Gourdon and Tourrettes sur Loup. After enjoying breakfast at camp you’ll head towards the Gorges du Loup on a scenic route through canyons and waterfalls – today’s challenge will be to keep your feet dry! Finish in the cobblestone streets of Tourrettes sur Loup where a festive village awaits! An early season event to prepare for your summer goals with a lively community of trail runners!
An adventure unlike any other 4 & 5 April, 2020
